P: Which are Podravka’s best-known brands?

O: The best-known Podravka brands are Vegeta and Podravka which are sold in more than 40 countries all over the world. The Podravka brand guarantees top quality products and is a symbol of a long corporate tradition. As such, it is perfectly complemented by sub-brands which are used to position the products to individual target customer groups. Vegeta is an example of the successful combination of a high-quality product and a carefully planned marketing strategy. Since its creation forty years ago, it has outgrown the concept of a food product and has become a household name for food complements.

P: Which Podravka products have the right to use the mark "Izvorno hrvatsko"(Croatian Creation)?

O: Three Podravka products have the right to use the mark “Croatian Creation”. Apart from Vegeta and Podravka’s Plum Jam, Beef Goulash is the third Podravka product to carry this mark. Podravka’s Plum Jam has been produced in accordance with the original, home-made recipe since 1975 and as such is unique in the world. Beef Goulash is a top-quality product with a characteristic spicy flavour and a consistent quality which has been on the market for around 50 years.

P: Are all Podravka’s products produced in accordance with all specified laws belonging to Croatian legislation and EU regulations?

O: Podravka consistently follows EU legal regulations so that our products are harmonised with these regulations, as well as with the guidelines in the area of legislation relating to product quality. Official EU inspection supervises, controls and examines product quality when goods enter the EU market (through the taking and examining of samples). The Croatian Food Act is harmonised with the EU Food Act of 2003 and Podravka’s experts actively and proactively participated in this harmonisation. Our products are produced in accordance with the positive legislation of the Republic of Croatia and Podravka policy, and a declaration is made to this effect. This guarantees Podravka’s care for its customers’ interests, among which health-safe food products are the top priority.

P: When was Vegeta created?

O: Vegeta is the best known and strongest Podravka brand sold in more than 40 countries. It has conquered domestic and world cuisines over the last 45 years. Vegeta was developed by a team of Podravka’s experts headed by Professor Zlata Bartl in 1958 and its recipe has been kept secret for more than forty years since Vegeta entered world markets.

P: Does the Podravka meat industry have the export number HR 139 and can its meat products be found on the American market?

O: Podravka exports its products under export number HR 139 to the American market, as one among three Croatian meat companies. Podravka has been exporting pork-based products, especially luncheon meat and meat spreads, to the American market for many years. Apart from the American market, it also exports to another twenty countries around the world. The control of raw materials, packaging, production process and final products is fully controlled both within the company and by independent external laboratories. All production process are supervised on a daily basis by eight independent veterinary inspectors, the state inspection, accompanied by frequent visits of foreign professional services, including American and EU services, which guarantee the absolute safety of Podravka meat products.
